In a significant administrative reform aimed at modernising student record management, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-I, has officially mandated that all Class X students must hold individual bank accounts prior to registering for the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2027. The board has strictly instructed that the entry of a valid, active individual bank account number will be a non-negotiable field during the online form-filling process.
According to the official circular issued by ASSEB Division-I Secretary N.N. Nath, ACS, the registration and form fill-up process for the HSLC 2027 examination is tentatively slated to open in the first week of October 2026. To prevent system bottlenecks and ensure total compliance across the state, the board has tasked all Inspectors of Schools with enforcing immediate action across public and private educational institutions in their respective jurisdictions. Under the new guidelines, Heads of Institutions have been asked to conduct an immediate audit of their current Class X rosters to identify every student who lacks a personal bank account. School authorities are required to work closely and directly with local commercial and regional rural banks to facilitate the opening of savings accounts for these students well before the portal officially goes live in October.
The primary driver behind this board mandate is the seamless implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer mechanisms for various state and national educational schemes. By linking verified bank details directly to candidate registration profiles at the secondary school level, the state education department aims to eliminate administrative overhead, eradicate payment delays and ensure that government scholarships, merit incentives and financial grants are credited straight to the students. Educational administrators and school principals across Assam have been urged to treat the directive with high priority. The board emphasised that early preparation is crucial to avoiding last-minute technical delays, registration rejections, or unnecessary stress for candidates during the formal submission window later this year.
